On older Mercedes spot rust can be a hidden problem under side moulding trim, under fenders and rocker panels and inside the bottom edges of doors.
This instruction booklet is meant to be an introduction to simple rust repairs. I have also written a manual that goes into more advanced repairs using Miracle Paint to replace larger rotted sections of sheet metal.
This fine fiberglass cloth assortment, along with Miracle Paint, can really do some fine rust repair detailing. There are many uses. You can even repair broken plastic by roughing up the surface on the back side and applying multiple layers of cloth and applying super glue.
These two types of fiberglass can bridge over small to medium rust holes and give a lasting repair to what otherwise becomes a very time-consuming and expensive repair.

Rusty, pitted metal can be pretty ugly, even if you paint over it. If you try to fill it with regular Bondo, that will not work long-term.

This 23-minute video will demonstrate how Kent repairs some small rust spots inside the fender wells of a W116 sedan. Disclaimer: This method of repair is not recommended for large rust holes under the car or for holes that have been caused by road salt.

This is another small "frustration" for W123 diesel owners. The diesel requires a big and heavy battery that is not as easy to remove and replace as you would think. If you are not careful, you can tweak your lower back lifting one out of the car.
Kent jokingly mentions this has become a late W123 epidemic! You see this problem happening on all late model 240D, 300D, 300CD, and 300TD wagons.

Over half the W123's Kent looks at today have their original battery hold down clamps missing. Most just seem to rust away. Kent decided he had to come up with a solution by providing a replacement clamp and nut that would not rust!

Manual sunroofs can have problems too. Just like their electrically operated counterparts, most often they will fail due to lack of lubrication. The number one failure point is a broken T handle. Number two is failure of the roof to close properly due to damaged felt feet and plastic slides.
