I have been discovering this is one of those maintenance areas that suffers from severe neglect. Failure of the rubber support or center drive shaft bearing can cause all types of improperly diagnosed vibration problems - some commonly change with vehicle speed.
This is now becoming one of the most common oil leaks in 1968 to 1985 diesel engines. Let's face it. These engines are getting older and the rubber seal is wearing and becoming more brittle with time.
FITS THE FOLLOWING: 123, 240D, 300D, 300TD and 300CD from 1977 to 1985. The original fuel lines on most late 70s and early 80s Mercedes Diesels were braided line and with age they do rot and develop slow leaks.

Fits 116 123 and 126 chassis diesel engines from 1977 to 1985. This includes the 240D, 300D, 300TD and 300D/300SD turbo engines. This short coolant hose is located right below your engine thermostat housing. Replacing it requires removal of the thermostat housing from the cylinder head.
Fits 123 Chassis 300D, 300CD, and 300TD TURBO ONLY 1981 to 1985 and 116 and 126 300SD models 1978 to 1985 with 5 cylinder TURBO diesel engines. If your 5 cylinder turbo diesel has more than 200,000 miles on it without any major work, it most likely needs new valve stem seals.
This kit fits ALL 116, 123 and 126 4 and 5 cylinder diesels, 616 and 617 designation. This is one of the most common oil leaks on the older Mercedes diesels from 1977 to 1985. It is often found at the gasket between the engine block and the oil filter housing.

ALERT! ALERT! 10 years after I first started warning about this, I saw it again in my shop on Feb. 20, 2011. Seems to be happening even more now as these radiators age. I loosened up the upper hose clamp on this 123 300TD radiator and it just fell off.
This gasket should be replaced when you remove the oil cooler housing to replace the main block gasket. These get old and hard and will leak due to age. Easy to do it on the bench. Not so easy to do it on the car.
Fits all W116, W123, and W126 Turbo Diesel 5 cylinder 300D and 300SD engines from 1981 -1985 as well as M110 6 cylinder engines from 1977 to 1985. This is a brand new Lower engine Oil Pan and Gasket. Remove and inspect your oil pan if it has been badly dented.
Here is another diesel item I strongly believe should be replaced as a preventative measure. Water pumps do not last forever and when they go, it is usually when you are on a trip - right? I feel they should be changed every 100,000 miles.
The Monark brand is no longer made. The Bosch pump is hard to find. This is the best alternative we can provide. For older models with primer pump mounted on the injection pump.

This is a high quality aftermarket part. Genuine are no longer available. The main line is the same for all U.S. turbo diesels 1981 to 1985. There may be some variation on the small vacuum rubber hose attach points. Here is the arrangement of the vacuum attach points.
