This instructional video covers the procedure for flushing the old hydraulic fluid out of an SLS system and installing new fluid. The example shown in this video is from a W126 560SEC.
Want to try to make your car's engine and engine compartment look like it just came off the showroom? Would you like detailed information on the chemicals, brushes, tools, and procedures Kent uses to get his engine compartments looking so nice?
Kent put together the three most important products you will need to use his pressurized method of setting the critical timing on your diesel engine injection pump. This is often negelected and when corrected can lead to faster starts, better fuel economy and less engine smoke.
This one hour long on demand video is included free with the purchase of Kent's OM61x injection pump timing kit. The method he teaches uses his own kit, his custom built pressure tank, and his special IP snake wrench.
Another wrench designed by Kent Bergsma and born out of frustration. This could be the weirdest wrench anywhere in the world! While shooting a video on adjusting the injection pump timing on an older Mercedes diesel Kent ran into a big problem.
Valve adjustment is often neglected on many of the mid 1950's to early 1970's 6 cylinder single overhead camshaft gas engines. If it has been years since any adjustment was made, there will be problems - Kent can guarantee it!!!
These are all 3/8 inch drive hex sockets. All are the same length 11 cm total length. These are great to have with the short hex just won't reach long enough.

Removing the tilting sunroof panel is a little bit of a mystery to many owners. Since there are no exposed fasteners, at first glance it can appear to be very difficult to remove.
Over half the W123's Kent looks at today have their original battery hold down clamps missing. Most just seem to rust away. Kent decided he had to come up with a solution by providing a replacement clamp and nut that would not rust!
Indications that your seal needs replacing are tears in the lip and no resistance when you close your trunk. If you trunk snaps shut too easily it means the seal has collapsed and is no longer sealing properly.
If you have ever thought about replacing the seals in your sunroof here is a chance to read the manual so you can gauge the difficultly of the job. Seals and other repair parts can be purchased separately at a later date.
Very good disk steel wheel . Straight and no damage. These will require the full disk 14-inch hubcaps as well as the short lug bolts. The long lug bolts from the alloy wheels will not work. Does NOT include lug bolts. See related parts to order separately.
Car alarms have their place, but on 20 year and older cars Kent is not so sure... When they get that old they can get very tempermental and will usually go off when you least expect it and in places that can cause great embarrassment.
Oil leaks at the oil pressure gauge are becoming an increasing problem, particularly on the 1981 to 1985 turbo diesel models. You will discover it when you see wetness at the bottom lip of your instrument cluster or you find oil leaking on your feet or legs.
Instructions to complete a diesel system purge. Does not include instructions on changing the filter
Lubro Moly Diesel hi test fuel additive that does far more than just add lubrication to the fuel. Formulated for the new low sulfur diesel fuel. Contains an additive against injection pump and injector wear.
These instructions will walk you through removing and reinstalling your pump from the engine, inspecting and opening the pump, mounting the pump, removing, inspecting and reinstalling the pump piston, installing new seals, check valves and cover plate.
Interior water leaks are becoming more common in the 123 chassis sedans, wagons and coupes. Kent believes the reasons are twofold. 1. The W123 is still used all over the world as a daily driver. Thus use, exposure to the elements and age = leaks. 2.
W126 vacuum door locks on the 1981 to 1991 380SE 380SEL 300SD 500SEL 300SDL 420SEL 300SE, 300SEL 560SEL 350SD and 350SDL are prone to problems. For starters the systems are getting old, and with age comes common leaks and failed actuators.
Kent originally wrote this manual to go along with our 617 Turbo Diesel Front Crank Seal Replacement Kit as well as our 616 and 617 NON Turbo Crank Seal Kit. We have found that many of you are having problems with your front crank bolt loosening up or bolts sheering off at the front engine pulley
This 12 page instructional downloadable booklet by Kent Bergsma covers brake bleeding equipment and procedures for all model Mercedes from the mid 1950s to the mid 1990s. This covers chassis Ponton 110 111 112 113 108 109 114 115 116 107 116 123 126 201 and 124.

If you have a 1969 to 1985 4 or 5 cylinder diesel (except the 1984-85 190D) you may have already noticed it is hard to get the valve cover totally sealed from weeping oil stains coming out the bottom or top of the valve cover gasket.

These are the instructions that are included free with all of our Rear Subframe Mount Replacement kits. If you are interersted in seeing what this job entails, or you have the parts already, then these downloadable instructions are great.
During his years of working on diesel engines, Kent has learned a few things about glow plugs. Some he learned the easy way and others he learned by “pain and suffering.” If misunderstood or improperly maintained, glow plugs can be the “achilles heal” of a diesel.
This book explains how a parallel pre-glow system works and how to properly test it using inexpensive electrical testing equipment. If your PENCIL style glow plugs are not working properly, you need to find the cause BEFORE you start buying parts.
Book 1 explains how a series pre-glow system works and how to properly test it using inexpensive electrical testing equipment. If your glow plugs are not working you need to find the cause BEFORE you start buying parts. This is something you can do yourself.
Do you own a 1998 to 2006 Mercedes with the 5 speed automatic that has the MB WORKSHOP ONLY locked cap on the top of the transmission fill tube? Have you wondered how you are ever going to be able to check the transmission fluid??? Kent has come up with an inexpensive answer for the D.I.Y.
Jammed up steering locks and keys that won't turn can leave you stranded.
When an engine is both overheating and losing coolant, you first want to exhaust all possibilities that the cause is something simple or inexpensive to repair. It is possible it might just be a stuck thermostat with a faulty water pump leaking coolant at the same time.
Kent explains why it is important to to remove and open up the motor assembly anytime you are replacing a damaged cable. On the bench he explains the workings of the motor and transmission and shows close up examples of what each of the different components do.
If a car has sat outside in the elements for long periods and has not been washed or waxed in months there are some things you need to do BEFORE you apply the buffer to the body and the final wax to the paint. This is where you will need some real "elbow grease."
Removing the tilting sunroof panel is a little bit of a mystery to many owners. Since there are no exposed fasteners, at first glance it can appear to be very difficult to remove.
In this video Kent covers the removal and replacement procedures for the sunroof air dam or otherwise known as the air deflector. Using a special technique and a plastic trim tool can prevent damage to the plastic clips. He also covers troubleshooting the reasons for improper operation.
Wheel bearing maintenance and service should not be neglected. If you are hearing strange rumbling noises up front while driving you should check your wheel bearings. Replacing them is not a diffiuclt D.I.Y. job if you have the right knowledge and tools.
When you are out looking to buy an older Mercedes in this time period you have to be careful. You have heard that these old Benz (particularly the diesels) can go forever! So why is mileage that important. Because contrary to those "myths" they do not go forever without impeccable maintenance.
Tilting power sunroof problems can be many. This is particularly true on roof mechanisms that have not received proper lubrication over the years. One of the first things that can fail is the power sunroof cable.
This applies to those Mercedes with the 722.6x 5 speed automatic transmissions built from 1998 to 2006. They have a cap on the transmission fill tube with the words "MB Workshop Only." Heaven forbid if you break into one of these transmissions!
If your engine is just running hot, it may be due to a plugged radiator or possibly a stuck thermostat. If your engine is just losing coolant it could be a leak in the water pump, radiator or hoses.
Door panels have to come off when fixing power windows, power seat switches and wiring, door check straps, door latches and locks, and clearing drains. Lubrication is a key factor in preventing premature failure on a number of interior door components. You have to remove the panel to lubricate!
