Removing the tilting sunroof panel is a little bit of a mystery to many owners. Since there are no exposed fasteners, at first glance it can appear to be very difficult to remove.
In this video Kent covers the removal and replacement procedures for the sunroof air dam or otherwise known as the air deflector. Using a special technique and a plastic trim tool can prevent damage to the plastic clips. He also covers troubleshooting the reasons for improper operation.
These old power non-tilting sunroofs are now 40-plus years old. These are specifically the sunroofs that used the later style round motor.

Tilting power sunroof problems can be many. This is particularly true on roof mechanisms that have not received proper lubrication over the years. One of the first things that can fail is the power sunroof cable.
These old power non-tilting sunroofs are now 45-plus years old. These are specifically the sunroofs that used the early-style rectangular sunroof motor and separate drive mechanism connected by a rubber drive bushing. They did not come with deflector air dams.
Manual sunroofs can have problems too. Just like their electrically operated counterparts, most often they will fail due to lack of lubrication. The number one failure point is a broken T handle. Number two is failure of the roof to close properly due to damaged felt feet and plastic slides.

Adjusting the power tilting sunroof is not difficult if you have the right knowledge and a couple alignment pin tools. Adjustment is not usually needed if the sunroof is working properly.

These are the Genuine Mercedes felt feet (pad or pads ) that most W123 sunroofs slide back and forth on (note - there are some early models that did not use these - inspect your feet before you order! Most wagon manual sunroofs do not use them either - check your roof first.

If your manual 123 sedan or wagon sunroof is broken or damaged, you may need to replace the mechanism. This is a complete mechanism that is shown with a good chrome handle and latch mechanism. There is a very slight crack in the plastic chrome trim piece under the handle. BUSTER
We call this a "short kit" because it is not complete. You will need to supply your own drain hose. The full kit includes 10 feet of thin-wall silicone hose and special urethane sealant. If you want to provide those items yourself, you can purchase this kit and save $$$.
Left rear pin and slide as shown. This is a common rust part and the threaded pin must be removed to remove the sunroof panel. This pin also rides up on a ramp to close the rear of the sunroof flush with the roof and is adjustable for the rear edge closing.

It is a good working and tested unit, as shown. To fit your car, ensure you have three wires going to the unit. A brown wire will be attached to the bracket ground. The rubber coupling between the motor and drive unit is in good condition.
Like new used working power sunroof switch for all 300SD and all 300D 300CD 1981-1985. It will also fit 380SE and 380SEL. There is no wear on the switch face emblem!
Kent has found and tested this newest LED light bulb that you can install on the backside of your instrument cluster to increase your instrument lighting on your older Mercedes. These particular bulbs will be much brighter with a more AMBER cast light, and they don't get hot!

Great tool to blow through your water drains. Works especially well on sunroof drains where you can get the tube down deep inside the drain to really get the crub out when you work the tube back and forth and blast with compressed air at the same time.
Kent is looking for a real Mercedes enthusiast to pass this old diesel on to. The new owner has to be familiar with the W123, be able to do his own work on the car, and be creative enough to operate a sophisticated SVO dual-tank conversion. Look at the pictures closely.
This was for a non-sunroof model, but as you can see on the back side, there is a factory cutout that will allow you to stall your own sunroof switch. Although not perfect, this may be one of the better 116 center dash wood pieces you will find.
