Removing the tilting sunroof panel is a little bit of a mystery to many owners. Since there are no exposed fasteners, at first glance it can appear to be very difficult to remove.

Tilting power sunroof problems can be many. This is particularly true on roof mechanisms that have not received proper lubrication over the years. One of the first things that can fail is the power sunroof cable.

In this 13 minute instructional video Kent will show you how to clean your sunroof cable tube, prep your cable for easy installation, lube the cable during installation, show preliminary clutch adjustement, and demonstrate how to get cable to engage the drive assembly using the power switch.

Manual sunroofs can have problems too. Just like their electrically operated counterparts, most often they will fail due to lack of lubrication. The number one failure point is a broken T handle. Number two is failure of the roof to close properly due to damaged felt feet and plastic slides.
If you have ever thought about replacing the seals in your sunroof here is a chance to read the manual so you can gauge the difficultly of the job. Seals and other repair parts can be purchased separately at a later date.

These are the Genuine Mercedes felt feet (pad or pads ) that most W123 sunroofs slide back and forth on (note - there are some early models that did not use these - inspect your feet before you order! Most wagon manual sunroofs do not use them either - check your roof first.

Adjusting the power tilting sunroof is not difficult if you have the right knowledge and a couple alignment pin tools. Adjustment is not usually needed if the sunroof is working properly.

In this 20-minute instructional video, Kent will walk you through the steps of getting the steel sunroof panel installed properly back into the car's roof. The first step will require cleaning, inspection, and possible replacement of the plastic slides.

The sunroof transmission drive unit moves the cable back and forth to open and close the sunroof. There are 5 gears inside this unit that transfer the incoming drive from the motor ( high speed) to the final drive moving the cable (slow speed).
This was a good working unit before taken apart. All the internal parts are very usable. This will give you some repair spares for the future.
In this short 2:32 minute video Kent will show you how he first tests the sunroof drains for blockage and then how he goes about cleaning out any blockage.
Are you dealing with any of these sunroof problems? Stuck roof, broken drive gears, bad cable, no lubrication, broken slides, headliner panel coming apart, installation problems, alignment, slow movement, headliner jamming, roof panel sits too low, and clutch spinning or not adjusted properly.
Right rear pin and slide as shown. This is a common rust part and the threaded pin must be removed to remove the sunroof panel. This pin also rides up on a ramp to close the rear of the sunroof flush with the roof.
Check closely that these match your current hardware. This would be a good set of slides if your hardware is severely rusted or plastic is broken
It is a good working and tested unit, as shown. I believe the mounting plate is for an early W108 or W109. To fit your car, ensure you have three wires going to the unit. A brown wire will be attached to the bracket. The rubber coupling between the motor and drive unit is in good condition.

Kent has found and tested this newest LED light bulb that you can install on the backside of your instrument cluster to increase your instrument lighting on your older Mercedes. These particular bulbs will be much brighter with a more AMBER cast light, and they don't get hot!
If you own and maintain an older car (especially 15 years and older) you must be willing to take care of its lubrication needs or you may spend big money later in repairs.
This was for a non-sunroof model, but as you can see on the back side, there is a factory cutout that will allow you to stall your own sunroof switch. Although not perfect, this may be one of the better 116 center dash wood pieces you will find.
Very Good used wood piece. Hard to find in this condition. For models without sunroofs but can be modified for models with a sunroof by cutting out the trim hole. Wood superb. The finish is almost perfect except for two very small hairline cracks at the lower corners of the big cut-out.
