616 617 Diesel Engine Coolant Thermostat Seal
New rubber gasket type with hole at side.
New rubber gasket type with hole at side.
New thermostat 80 degree C with gasket. Comes with illustrated installation tips. Instructions are specific for early 603 engine 1986 and 1987 but will apply to other models as well (some specific details may not apply to the later models).
Fits the following models:
If your engine is just running hot, it may be due to a plugged radiator or possibly a stuck thermostat. If your engine is just losing coolant it could be a leak in the water pump, radiator or hoses.
New coolant temperature sensor for most Mercedes built from 1973 to 1993, Gasoline and Diesel models. Many gas models it is located on top of the thermostat housing. Sends signal to engine coolant temperature gauge on the dashboard. These are getting harder to get. Single pin
Why is this so important? It is primarily due to the age of these cars now and the fact that lurking problems can be hidden from visual inspection. There is not ONE diesel that Kent has looked at in the last five years that does not need this service! Even ones with under 150,000 original miles.
Replace your old worn and weak expansion tank cap to eliminate minor coolant loss problems. Watch the video below as Kent will explain the difference in caps and why you want to make sure you purchase the correct one.
In this video, Kent will walk you through the steps needed to convert your older Brake Bleeder tank to one that can continue to bleed brake systems as well as pressure test radiators and cooling systems.
This fits all 201 chassis 190E and 190D from 1984 to 1993 and all 124 chassis sedans, coupes and wagons from 1986 to 1995 both gas and diesel. Visually check the condition of the seal on the underside of the cap.
If you are experiencing minor coolant loss on your older model that has the cap on the radiator, it may because you do not have the correct cap. Not all caps are created equal as Kent will point out in the video below:
This is the type of radiator that will require this cap.
WILL NOT FIT 85 CALIFORNIA MODELS!! It will fit some 1985 Federal Models only. Original early style overflow coolant tanks are no longer available. For these early models mentioned above, you must purchase the later model tank.
Many owners neglect replacing the engine coolant thermostat. It just slowly wears out over time. If you notice your engine temperature running low or you car taking a long time to heat up inside these are the first signs your thermostat has failed.
Have you ever had a hard time finally a very small coolant leak? Do you find yourself adding small amounts of coolant but can not see any leak? Is there a funny smell coming from inside your Benz when you run the heater?
New set of upper and lower radiator hoses that fit 1981 to 1985 300SD, 1981 to 1985 300TD, and 1982 to 1985 300D and CD (turbo engines only). NOTE: Does fit SOME late-model 240D.
We include a chaffing guard for the lower hose.
New head gasket set. Fits all 5 cylinder TURBO diesel engines only from 1978 to 1985 including 300D, 300CD, 300TD and 300SD. Comes complete with all gaskets only as shown in the picture. Valve stem seals, chain tensioner gasket, thermostat housing gasket, and valve cover gasket are NOT included.
If your engine temperature gauge is not reading at all, you need to fix it before you keep driving the car. To ignore this could lead to major engine failure, since you will have no way to get an adequate warning that your engine is about to overheat.
Brand new expansion tank fits all 201 chassis 190D and 190E 1984 to 1993 and 124 chassis 260E, 300E, 300CE and 300TE 1986 to 1992 only.
Be sure to add a new radiator cap!! Look below to order.
When replacing the thermostat in your order diesel you may end up fitting a lot of corrosion. This kit will help you make sure you do not have any leaks when you install the new thermostat and will prevent corrosion of the housing bolts in the future.
New water pump and gasket as shown. Plan to change the short hose and thermostat at the same time. Inspect v-belts and change if cracked.
If you think your coolant hoses are "ok" they just may be, but it is what is hidden that could be a problem. When you remove those old hoses ( unless they have been replaced in the past 10 years) you may be shocked at what you find.
When an engine is both overheating and losing coolant, you first want to exhaust all possibilities that the cause is something simple or inexpensive to repair. It is possible it might just be a stuck thermostat with a faulty water pump leaking coolant at the same time.
I have used a lot of different clamping tools over the years to prevent fluids from leaking out when removing coolant, fuel, or brake fluid hoses. Most work ok. Some are hard to use in tight places. Many do not stop every last drip from coming out of the hose.
Since the original style Bosch electric water pumps are no longer available NEW. If you need a replacement pump, you have three options. 1. Buy a used pump. 2. Buy our newer pump conversion upgrade. 3. Take your inoperable pump out of the system.
Since the original old style Bosch electric pumps are no longer available, Kent decided to come up with a good alternative. He went to work to adapt the newer style pump found on most Mercedes of the 1990s.
Fits 116 123 and 126 chassis diesel engines from 1977 to 1985. This includes the 240D, 300D, 300TD and 300D/300SD turbo engines.
This is the "hidden" radiator hose that never gets replaced!
Mercedes installed small fuel warmers on these engines using engine coolant to warm up the fuel just before it enters the injection pump. The idea is great - especially in cold climates, but in moderate and warmer climates it is probably not needed.
If you have a 1981 to 1985 W123 300D, 300CD, 280E, 280CE, 300TD or a 1981 to 1989 W107 380SL, 560SL, or a 1981 to 1991 W126 380SE/L 300SD 500SE/L 300SDL 420SE/L 300SE/L 560SE/L 380SEC 560SEC that has automatic climate control this video manual will apply. These c
In this video instruction, Kent will show you how to pressure test your radiator and cooling system using his pressure bleeder tank and specially designed and modified radiator cap.
If you plan to change coolant hoses this is a must-have labor-saving tool. These are cleverly designed tools. I could not have done it better myself. I actually use to make a couple of different types before I found this set.
Of course, you want to change this if you find oil leaking out the bottom onto your drive belt, but it can also leak internally, allowing coolant to get into your engine oil or vice versa. 272273
In this 23 minute highly detailed video Kent will show you to reasons why and some of the problems you will run into when you change these hoses on your own D-Jet engine. He will take the new parts and show you how to properly install them using the correct hose clamps, sealants and lubes.
Brand new thermostat, heavy-duty short hose, and 2 new clamps. Fits all 126 Chassis 380 engines from 1981 to 1985 both in 107 chassis and 126 Chassis. Free Video installation tips included ( click on the arrow in the center of the picture to watch below:
These are three inexpensive parts that seem to never get replaced when they wear out. If "mechanics" miss these items. Are you losing coolant? Are you losing windshield washer fluid? Do you have unsightly oil on your right valve cover?
Fits all 380SL and 380SLC from 1981 to 1985. This flexible fuel hose connects the outlet of the fuel filter to the metal hard fuel line going from the rear of the 380SL to the engine compartment. This hose is hard to install and hard to inspect.
When checking your existing fuel delivery system, you may need to remove the plastic shroud for a better look. The key is spotting the "T" with a small-diameter hard fuel line coming off the line between the filter and the accumulator. Look at the pictures below to compare.
APPLIES TO: The first general automatic climate control was introduced in 1977 in the U.S. market.
If you have worked on 5-cylinder 617 turbo diesel cylinder heads before you already know how important it is to have the correct socket for the "triple square" cylinder head bolts. This socket is a must to properly remove and re-torque those bolts.
Fits 115 116 123 and 126 chassis diesel engines, non turbo and turbo, to 1985. This includes the 220D, 240D, 300D 300TD wagon and 300D/300SD turbo engines. Most thermostats only last a few years and should be changed for optimal diesel performance.
Set of upper and lower main radiator hoses as shown.
When used for bleeding or flushing your brake system, a single person can do a rapid fluid flush! No mess and very efficient. Will work on all Mercedes from 1968 to 1995 - Also select 1960's models and most later chassis up to 2006 see list below: 25-minute video instructions are now included.
This DIY job is very important for a number of reasons. Changing the fluid and the filter every 40k to 50k will extend the life of your power steering pump and steering rack. Changing out the reservoir will allow you to replace the seal between the tank and the pump.
Watch the YouTube video below for full details. Kent will tell you everything about this kit and why you should do this joy yourself around 100,000 miles
This kit includes the following:
If you find your old diesel slow to start after it has been parked overnight or for extended periods, the problem could be a loss of fuel in the injection pump. Let's face it.
Since new original style pumps are no longer made, this is the best way to finally fix your old fuel pump leaks and poor performance.
This is our most complete FID kit yet. Kent wanted to make sure you would have all the parts you need including hardware.
All 380SL, 380SE, and 380SEL owners take note. Even if you acquire a nice 380 like Kent's Cherry you are going to need some or all of these components ( unless of course it was recently done by a competent mechanic ).
PLEASE LOOK AT YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE ORDERING to confirm the type of accumulator you have. ( Watch the last video below for examples )For systems with ONE HOLE ACCUMULATOR only. Some 450SL, 450SLC, 450SE, 450SEL with 4.5 and W116 280SE .
Most 1988 to 1993 6 cylinder CIS fuel injection delivery (FID) systems are old and tired and have not been properly maintained. These include the W201 190E 2.6, the W124 260E 300E, 300CE, 300TE, the W126 300SE, and 300SEL, and the R129 300SL.
DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY METAL FACTORY HARD LINES!!! What you SEE in the picture is exactly what you will receive. Many of these particular big V8 models are now becoming true collector cars and going up in value at a steady rate.
Custom ordered for a better fit than original! special Oring seal for the bowden cable housing where it connects to the right side of the automatic transmission. This is a common leak area and you may be fooled into thinking it is leaking out of the pan gasket.
