Door hinge lubrication has to be one of the most neglected maintenance items on the older models. I think part of the problem stems from the fact owners don't know how to do it or don't know how to acquire the proper grease gun to lubricate those special fittings on the door hinges.

Factory original and hard to find and often missing. These are quick to remove and go onto the long roof bars and clamp down with a thumb screw on each end. They can be adjusted forward and rearward on the roof. These are in good used condition but not perfect.

The side trim strips beginning with the W108 Chassis in 1965 and ending with the 123 chassis in 1985 were all held to the body with the same method.

For all 111, 112, 108, 109, 114, 115, 107, 116, 123, 126 and 201 chassis (Non tilting roofs up through 1986). Do you have a power sunroof that is working poorly or maybe not at all?
Good sunroof cable as shown. Only fits the years and models listed. If your sedan has a square sunroof motor ( not round) this cable will work. It is approximately 104 inches in length. Good cable and good plastic slides. The cable will need to be cleaned and lubricated before installation.
This kit includes a New Mercedes OEM fuel tank filter screen along with a special tool I have made to remove and install it. It will save you the time and expense of running out and buying a great big Allen wrench.
Manual sunroofs can have problems too. Just like their electrically operated counterparts, most often they will fail due to lack of lubrication. The number one failure point is a broken T handle. Number two is failure of the roof to close properly due to damaged felt feet and plastic slides.
Groaning, snaping and jammed door check straps are a common problem on the older models (up through 1995). This is primarily due to age and lack of lubrication. Newer models will soon start having similar problems. Rain water getting inside the doors is the big killer.

Why would you need to remove a fuel tank? If it is heavily rusted or contaminated sometimes it is just easier to find a good used fuel tank and replace it. Trying to clean a heavily gummed up fuel tank is a real challenge.

Contamintion in the window washer fluid tank is one of the main reasons the spray nozzles get plugged up. Install this little fitler somewhere in the line between the pump and the nozzles on the hood and secure with zip ties.
The sunroof transmission drive unit moves the cable back and forth to open and close the sunroof. There are 5 gears inside this unit that transfer the incoming drive from the motor ( high speed) to the final drive moving the cable (slow speed).

In this 14 minute instructional video, Kent will show you how to safely remove the side window lower trim without damaging the car's paint or the soft aluminum trim. He will do this using his special tool to do this job. He will also show you how to install the trim back on without bending it.
This can be one of the hardest trim pieces to remove if you don't want to damage the car's paint or the aluminum trim itself. When working on detailing his 300TD wagon Kent finally decided it was time to make a special tool for this operation.

Cad plating can be expensive but is great for show restorations. If you just want to make those parts on your old Benz look good then this is the closest paint Kent has found to looking like cadmium gold plating. Check out the pictures below of the fuel delivery brackets he did with this paint.
