Door hinge lubrication has to be one of the most neglected maintenance items on the older models. I think part of the problem stems from the fact owners don't know how to do it or don't know how to acquire the proper grease gun to lubricate those special fittings on the door hinges.
If you own and maintain an older car (especially 15 years and older) you must be willing to take care of its lubrication needs or you may spend big money later in repairs.

Over the years Kent has used a number of different things to place on top his jack stands to prevent damage and for added security. He has even tried some of the commercially available jack stand plastic covers. Nothing has proven to work better than the special cut reinforced hose shown here.

Old cars and brake issues go hand in hand. Especially if the car is not driving very often. Brake problems usually first show up as “dragging” or sticking brakes. If this issue is not dealt with immediately it can lead to serious problem including the car catching on fire.

A broken radiator neck can be safely repaired if it breaks off cleanly in the center or aft of the center of the neck. If it breaks off too close to the tank or breaks off in multiple small pieces then we advise that you replace the radiator.

On older Mercedes spot rust can be a hidden problem under side moulding trim, under fenders and rocker panels and inside the bottom edges of doors.
Kent believes this is the best protection you can give your rear end. Since there is no filter there for the fluid, nothing other than this super-strong magnetic drain plug can keep metal particles from working their way back up into the bearings and gears.
Sold in a set of four. These have to be the strongest magnets in the World! You do not put them inside the pan. Rather you spread them out on the outside bottom of the transmission pan as shown in the picture below. Talk about an easy install! You don't even need to jack the car up!
This is a must-have if you attempting a caliper rebuild on one with stuck pistons. If you own one of our injector pressure testers here is a great add-on that will allow you to use the tester to remove stuck pistons from old brake calipers.
This green colored grease is specially formulated to work on any Mercedes from wheel bearing. Comes in a tube that is enough to do two front wheel bearings and inside hubs. If you drive at high speeds this is your best grease to prevent bearings from overheating.
You can save a lot of money if you can rebuild your old brake calipers, especially on some older models. If you can just get the pistons out of the housings, most calipers are rebuildable, unless they have been subject to road salt or have sat exposed to the weather for years without use.
Installing new front rotors on older model Mercedes requires that you remove the rotor from the bearing hub and bolt the new rotor back on. Sounds easy right? Sometimes not! The bolts are on very tight and often take a lot of torque to remove. How do you hold the break rotor while doing this?
If your fuel level gauge is not reading accurately or the needle jumps around and or your car’s low fuel warning light does not comes on, it is usually a problem with the tubular sending unit in the fuel tank.
Transmission service on these older Mercedes is very often neglected and it is something you can do yourself. It should be done every 30,000 miles or every 5 years (whichever comes first). After you watch this video you will find out why you should do it yourself!
